I just cracked open a bank wrapped roll of 1984 Lincolns and found this in the roll. Ive seen similar coins before but not nearly as drastic. Anyhow I took some nice clear pictures and Im hoping someone can identify the error, tell me how it happens and if theres any added premium. Is it even an error??? It did come from a bank wrapped roll. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd202/DJP7x0s/1984error.jpg
Wow, they grease those dies that heavily??? And it has to be some thick grease to do that. I never knew if they greased the dies or not, I always assumed they might mist them with oil occasionally, But it would make more sense for a slight coating of heavier grease, it might stick longer and last longer.
Attack of the killer roller perhaps? the damage doesn't seem to be severe enough to the rims for that, however......
what do you by roller??? Like the coin roller???If so the end coins had roller damage, but this is one from the middle of the roll and not at the ends. And this dosent look anything close to roller damage. Its very smooth and flat to the rest of the fields
Runied??? Its still worth atleast one cent. And if I had 2,500,000 of these, I could buy a brand new truck!!!!!!
It looks like a nice greased die strike. Mike should be along soon and give us a definite answer. I don't believe that it is very valuable, but not junk either.
