Hehe. My grading sucks of course. I looked at your first photo as was like, that looks fairly nice. Seems like a reasonable maybe even low grade. Was wondering what you were talking about. Then saw the next AU and was like, oh. Hehe.
Wow. I've come across these NTC graded coins before. I guess I always thought their grading wasn't good, but not ridiculous (like some others). Guess I was wrong. It's really too bad, because I think there are many, many people that will buy any slabbed coin based upon it's stated price. In fact, until I came here and started learning how to grade, I was a victim of another poor company (ANI). -flier
This photo has been around about as long as I've been collecting....maybe longer. I have heard everything but as most people know---a photo can be changed and the grade on this slab could have been photo-shoped. NTC isn't the best grading company IMHO but I've never seen them this far off.....I've seen cleaned coins in slabs with no noting of the cleaning---and such but as for the grading being off by alot---normaly they are just a few points off. I dunno, but based on the only NTC coin I have ever seen in hand, I was prepared to answer "YES" as soon as I read the thread title.
The only NTC coin I ever cracked out and resubmitted, upgraded from a NTC PF-64 Cam to a NGC PF-67 UCam. Of course this is the exception to the rule. Most NTC coins are overgraded, but if you know how to grade, you can spot the good ones. Charlie
I have a few NTC coins and they are graded accurately. I should have saved the PCGS coin that was way overgraded . It was worse than the one above. The fact that some people only buy certain slabs means there's always good deals on NTC graded coins for me, so I don't argue...
