Is it really MS-66?

Im thinking about buying this coin on ebay, the problem is that it's graded ms-66 by a grading service called NCG. By the first picture shown it appears to have a ton of contact marks, so I don't think it is that high of a grade. Do you guys think it's really ms-66, and is it worth buying it and then sending it in to NGC or PCGS?

    Doesn't matter.
NCG is an SSS (scamming self slabber).

It looks like something went wrong somewhere with the imaging processing in the first image.

edit: my image copying didn't work either, but they can be viewed when quoting OP

Maybe they are hoping you will confound NCG with NGC, which is a good third-party grading firm.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

That is precisely what they are doing.

And, I can't comment on the coin because your images are all red Xs.

If you reply to the "red x post" you can see the pics from tapatalk. ??????

As a general rule of thumb, I wouldn't expect more than one of one hundred coins in an NCG slab to meet the stated grade. Half or more wouldn't slab at all at a real TPG.

Now, to actually look at the pics....

63 would be generous. And keep in mind, for a real MS66 of this issue you should be paying around $3000 or a bit more....

I don't know what tapatalk is, but if it doesn't work, then they shouldn't use it. Just copy the pictures into your post. I'm not going give the secret handshake just to see some pictures.

Tapatalk is an app which theoretically makes it easier to post at online forums from one's phone. There are those who don't understand the ramifications of added layers of third-party softwares in the complex dance of operating system and forum software updates....

I've never actually used it, though, since I've never actually had difficulty posting from my smartphone and a normal browser.

@SuperDave At first I didn't understand what was going on in this thread, and I thought you were throwing shade at NGC. "Man, I like that guy's posts, I didn't take him as a kool-aid drinker!" :D

With that out of the way, I'll echo the others. NCG is a grading service that is meant to mislead beginning collectors. The coin is not a MS66, but maybe MS62.

Yeah, NCG is among my least-favorite kitchen-table slabbers, because of that similarity. You know they were playing that angle when they came up with it. That's like heating the grease because it's not greasy enough yet.

If this came across my desk I would give it a MS62. Depending upon which grading company you send it to, there is a possibility you could get a MS63.
