I just thought I would throw this out there for others to see. I bought this 1982-P Kennedy Half that was being auctioned off on Ebay. It was supposed to be the missing FG initials variety. Looked good on Ebay! However... I was not all that excited when it was delivered! Anyone think there is something off with this "No FG" Kennedy Half Dollar?????
Im not that big unto Kennedy halfs but from your picks it does appear the die was aggressively abraded. Enough so to remove the initials. From what I see it does not look like the coin itself was tampered with.
The die polishing does not appear to be in the area where the designer's initials should be. The area between the eagle's left leg (viewer's right) and the tail feathers is where the initials should have been, and it doesn't look to have been affected by die polish. I think this is a legitimate "No FG" Kennedy. Chris
I won the bid on Ebay for $3.95 + $1.95 shipping for a grand total of $5.90... so, I didn't bet the barn on it! In your opinion, Did I overpay? Underpay? Or was the deal just right? Thank you for your feedback!
To be honest, I paid 50c for mine because I found it in a bank box. $5.90 doesn't seem too bad. Chris
I'm not quite sure a grand total of $5.90 would rightly qualify one as being "FU'd" even if it had been a waste. Still, in the future you may want to consider asking such questions before bidding/buying. There was a lot of truth in the old Syms ad...
I concur with Chris, looks legitimate to me. May I ask what you thought that makes you feel you might not have gotten what you payed for?
What a surprise! Another whiny individual jumping to conclusions and unable to handle the mere mention of using common sense. I wasn't suggesting you ask the seller, hotshot, but to ask the forum BEFORE you buy instead of after. Oh, the unforgivable horror! You're right though... you really should keep buying what you do not know and only asking after the purchase. Sooner or later you won't be so lucky and then I'm sure we'll all get to see your, ahem, lack of cynicism, positivity, and "good nature" because, as always, it'll all be the other guy's fault. And no... I don't know your financial situation and is why I dared to suggest that, oh, forget it... shop away!
