Can a coin which has been made into a paperweight be removed from the acrylic without completely destroying it? I don't know if the acrylic actually "sticks" to the coin or not - if not, mechanical means could be employed.

Its a good question, but if it is not too old, I think you can. first you need to carve it close the coin to deal with the minimal amount of acrylic.

In response to Randy Nessler's query on solvents for acrylic-type resins, methylene chloride works very well. This solvent can be used to completely solubilize Plexiglas and other acrylic polymers. It is a principal ingredient in commercial paint strippers.
