Although it could be a strike-through error, I'm suspicious because of the other, smaller indentations scattered around the obverse. So it could be impact damage or acid etching. There's no way to tell without clear close-ups.
Yeah, I agree with Mike. Looks like Kennedy got in a barfight or something, but it could be a strike-through error. Hard to tell from the pics.
