We refer to your coin as PMD (Post Mint Damage) it means it didn't occur in the minting process.JMO

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

When you read contemporary literature of the time, many people believed Abe's face looked weird.

Many medical /genetic specialist suspect Marfan Disease.

"An Ohio physician first suggested in 1962 that Lincoln may have had Marfan syndrome, noting that the former president’s mother was also exceptionally tall and lanky, according to Clinical Correlations. Two years later, a California doctor treated a young Marfan syndrome patient whose ancestry could be traced back to Lincoln, adding fuel to the theory. Since then, doctors and scientists have gone back and forth." ( Time.com)

I watched a documentary awhile back about death masks and creating the faces of famous people from years ago. They examined the two "life" masks that Lincoln had made, I believe one in 1860 and the second in 1864. It was like two different faces. The second mask showed half of his face was drooping lower than the other side. They theorized that he knew he was sick but didn't want the public to find out, so he grew a beard to cover it up. Was he sick? Or was it just the toll of the immense amount of stress from the Civil War and fighting to keep the country whole?

Whatever it was we will probably never known for sure, as they won't allow anyone to open his tomb. I believe they would need a bone marrow sample to test for Marfan Syndrome?
