The seller of eBay item 221447235387 appears to have successfully baited an unwary bidder into believing his worthless copy is the real thing. I see these all of the time, and always let them know their listing is in the wrong category, as I did in this case . . . "This belongs in the Replicas and Reproductions category, not here, and you should not be using photos of a genuine coin." to which seller unapologetically replied, "its in a couple categories". When I went back and looked to see if it had been taken down, not only was it still there, but someone had opened with a bid at or above the $500 minimum. I've since messaged seller again, "I guess I'll have to be less diplomatic . . . your listing most definitely does not belong in this category, intended only for genuine coins. If I weren't willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, I'd think your listing intentionally deceptive, and fraudulent." Am I being too charitable with this seller?
Oh, that's already been done, but my concern is that such listings often have a short enough duration that they end and are paid for before eBay even reviews them. In this case, it is a 3 day listing, and will end before Tuesday morning . . . possibly intentional on the seller's part.
Ebay is better but still the scams/deceptions and suckers are out there. I was looking at gold buffalo completed listings and saw one where it was listed as a regular coin with a $1000 open from a seller with zero feed back. the worst part was it stamped copy right under the chief's chin. still it got one bid and sold for $1000, who buys that?
That should ONLY be in the Replicas and Reproductions category. I hope you reported the seller. Bid is up to $660 now.
If it isn't taken down, I think someone on here should bid on it and not pay, to make sure an unsuspecting buyer doesn't bid on it thinking it's the real thing.
Try this link: (You'll need the item number though) http://ocs.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...csGBHMemberLocationSiteId=0&seller=ryan-stace
You're right, HE should take it down, but he hasn't, and he has ignored all of my emails after the first. Apparently, he plans to stiff someone with this junk.
How is his other coin legit? Item specifics say PCGS MS61 graded, picture shows a NGC graded coin, and descripition says coin is not graded
I wish eBay wasn't so indifferent to such apparently fraudulent efforts. Maybe, if eBay lacks the time and / or expertise to make such decisions expediently, they should empower an objective committee to weigh in on such situations, and recommend a hold on payment to seller until the buyer has indicated satisfaction?
Is eBay Support Sleeping?? This is obviously a "copy" coin listing under authentic US Coins as $20 Double Eagles yet they continue to let the listings run?? As such, there's no telling WHAT the buyers will receive since obviously the photo's used are not whats being sold!
