Is that Saddam still on the notes, or are these notes from prior to the war?

those are from before the war. i don tknow if they still circulate, but i know they have been deemed worthless by the provisional govt. there is a new currency being circulated, but not sure what it looks like. there is alot of warnings on the internet about fake Iraqi curency as well, so when buying it, be carefull!

i dont thiink he is saying that at all. the notes you posted i believe are real, but they are no longer valid for circualtion. I believe the 'real' ones oldman is talking about are the new notes circulating without saddams image.

They do come cheap...I got the whole series of saddam notes from a guy I know in the military, also got a saddam medal, coin, and new and old iraqi dinars...I traded a few care packages for them.

    Saddam in better times.

No No im not saying those are fake. I was just saying my boy brought me some home. They are different however from the few I have.

I will have to go dig them up and look at the ones I have again. I tucked them away for safe keeping. They have Saddam on them as well. My son told a little story about them, But I don't know if i can tell it. Nothing to fantasic. Just a funny.

The current Iraqi government no longer prints currency with Sadaam on them so anything with Sadaam is definitely pre-2003. Anything before that is no longer legal tender (they did have a grace period to redeem any old notes for new ones but that's since expired, meaning any pre-2003 notes have no value as currency any longer, and are only worth collector's value.)

New notes printed since 2003 are fairly similar to the old ones, just minus Sadaam, sometimes the artwork is altered slightly to take up the space where Sadaam would otherwise be.

I don't know if this is appropriate or not to post this on the thread but I have quite a few of these Saddam notes. If anyone needs some for their collection just send me a PM & we'll work something out.
