Well i found my first 2009 the other day in joplin mo. At the pilot. its perfect. Same day i got a 2006 Star, IA00027897 so that made my day. Today, i went in for coffee and got a 1995 5 and two 2010 dimes. i tried to get the redseal five that somebody just cashed in, but she wouldn't give it up. i tried tho. she put it to the side and kept looking at it funny. so it make me laugh all the way to the semi. Did anybody else find something this past week that made your day?
I found a 2010 P dime a few months back. Never found any 2009 coins in circulation except for the pennies. Found TONS of the 2010 shields though. Nice finds schwalbe! Unfortunately haven't found anything this week though....
Mint and Proof sets have them and you can always check the US Mint Circulating Coin Production figures to see where the current mintage stats stand. 2010 nickel (.05¢) mintages are currently at: Denver: 147.36 M Philadelphia: 182.88 M
I picked up a 1957-D Jefferson 5c from the parking lot of the local 7-11. So far, the very same parking lot has produced 7 - 2009 Lincoln's (one Denver Mint) and 4 - 2010 Lincoln's (all Philly). Chris
Numismatic News has great figures for Mint production as well, although can be a week behind. I've stopped saving the Shield pennies as well, but am desperate to find a 2010-D dime now.
NN get them from the Mint. It's free to go to the Mint web site for them. The Mint can and does make corrections over time. Redbooks don't even attempt to print mintage figures for many new coins for a couple or more years until the Mint stops revising numbers.
Recently I've received an Indian Head penny, and a Series 1995 $1 web note in change. I also came across a Series 1953A $2, while searching through a strap from my bank. Those three finds certainly made my day!
all you folks have had some great finds! The best i found, wasnt even found by me. A friend of mine went on vacation and found a $50 star note. He saved it for 2 weeks until he saw me again. The note was well circulated, average serial number, and not from a small print run ect. the only cool thing about it was the star.
I sold a box of 2010 D cents, all new unopened "String" rolls. It closed at $31. lol Hardly worth the effort. I got another 36 rolls in another box that I will probably search for errors before dumping them. The 2010 D nickles and dimes are showing up a lot also.
Guess I'm still searching for the 2010 D dimes. I got a roll from the bank today and no such luck this time either.
yeah schwalbe, he is. He searches all his currency for stars lol he doesnt save them, but knows i will. He buys everything cash - no plastic, so he searches alot of currency lol
Im always searching the change machine at work.... If you put in a twenty it gives you back all dollar coins so I started collecting the presidential dollars in an album.... What i have noticed though is that I always find the coins minted in Philly first.... It took me 5 or 6 months between the time I found the Quincy Adams P and the Quincy D....... I am assuming its just because I live in Indiana and it takes the D's longer to circulate my way???? Don't know but I have been doing it for years and I always find the P's first.... (I also found a Jefferson Dollar Proof and a colorized John Adams).
I had the luck of working a softdrink stand at our local BBQ cook off this weekend and was able to find some cool star notes. I had all the kids looking for star notes all day. The customers would look like they were insulted when the kids just stood there looking at thier money not getting their drinks. They would say its real not counterfiet and all I could do was smile. Had a great time and also found 4 silver Kennedy halves at the bank on Friday. A sweet weekend IMO.
