I found this 'thing' in my change pocket coins I had put on the desk. I noticed it as it reflected an image I assumed was a local coin from Mexico or some other foreign coin as my last shopping was in the local Aldi's. Then looking at it closer , I thought it was a damaged coin but still worth a dime. When I scoped it, trying to figure what did it, I spent 10 minutes and with no real conclusion, I remembered where the experts are, so here it is. Held at an angle , it looked like some kind of gas bubble. The reverse "Dime" letters protrudes outward, the area back of the ear was raised, but the ear is OK. EPU and the torch and surrounding branches seem OK. So here it is ~ 2014 clime, corrosion. Jim
Interesting! Is the edge normal? Is the copper still there? I'm asking because I am wondering if the dime was sitting in something acidic. Or it was exposed to immense heat? Or it simply has some sort of clad issues. I think I've read here about gas bubbles getting trapped between the CuNI and Cu core.
