Attended a local coin show today that was surprisingly well attended. I was proud of my collecting brothers and sisters out there. Picked up a couple of coins that needed a loving home. This one didn’t grab me until I looked more closely. Old ANACS soapbox holder noted EF Details-Corroded. But here’s the cool part. It is 1877-S over Horizontal S…. I had to pull my loupe out and sure enough. There is a faint sideways S under the normal mintmark. I thought it was cool enough to need to come home with me.
Nice pick up on the lady that’s seated. I know of another good home should she think it’s a bit to warm down there. Lol
Nice pick Randy, that variety doubles/almost triples the value. Not sure how it fairs in a details slab.
Yeah… I am pretty sure this was a dug coin. The obverse is corroded and there appear to be blade marks from a digging tool on the reverse.
