Here is a 1995 half dollar i found. It looks like it was struck through grease to me. What do you think? Charlie
I think you might be right. I have one that is similar to yours. The obverse of mine is the effected side, so much so that you can't even read the date or LIBERTY, but the coin is BU. Neat find.
This is just a hunch by the look of the reverse, I need to know if it looks like a rotated die error. Then I need to know if it rings when it drops on a hard surface or just goes "THUD". It could just be the scan, but there may be a sem around the rim of the coin indicationg it may be a magician's coin. Just curious. It still think it looks like it was struck through grease, but the other thought may make me rethink that thought. How's that for double talk ? Have Fun, Bill
It does not have a rotated reverse and I can't see a seam, although I can see how the picture makes it look that way. It also gives a ring instead of a thud. Thanks for all your help guys, Charlie
Hi, Thanks for checking. It had me curious. It's one of the more severe struck through grease errors I've seen. Nice find! Have Fun, Bill
Check out this filled die example. http://cgi.ebay.com/1999-P-KENNEDY-...Z8375546585QQcategoryZ524QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Larry Nienaber
