Just found this 1996 Lincoln with a clash on the reverse. You can plainly see the clashing in bays 4,5,6,&7. You can also see the top of Lincoln's head under the F of OF and the AM of America. I think the rotation is about 210 degrees. Lou P.S. I screwed up on this one. I hit it with a little acetone, should have left it alone. Live and learn. I'll include a pic of it before the acetone.
Whats the coins rotation. It would have to be pretty extreme to make a clash in the position. I would be willing to guess that they are just heavy die abrasion.
This is what die clash should look like on a Lincoln Memorial Cent. If you’re seeing the top of Lincoln’s head under the F on OF and the AM of AMERICA then that coin would have a severe rotation.
The coin I have isn't rotated. I'm saying the clash on the die is severely rotated. The clash in the bays is pretty obvious. Looking at the reverse before I hit it with a little acetone the head seems obvious to me. When I say I think the rotation of the die was 210 degrees I mean that in relation to what it would normally look like. Thanks: Lou
Thanks for the overlay. I'm aware of what a clash normally looks like, this clash on the die either was clashed with a serious rotation of after the die was abraded it was reinstalled improperly IMHO. When I say I think the rotation of the die was 210 degrees I mean that in relation to what it would normally look like. Thanks: Lou
