Interesting Caracalla Broken Die Error

    As I was identifying this coin I noticed the "S" was missing from the legend
    "VOTA SV(S)CEPTA X". At first I thought it was a variant until I examined it closer. Then I noticed the top, right tip of the "S" was visible but there was no trace of the rest of the letter. Due to the high level of detail of the figure and other lettering this had to be created by a broken or damaged die.

    Denomination: AR Denarius
    Mint: Rome (201 – 206 AD)
    Obverse: ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, Laureate, head right
    Reverse: VOTA SV(S)CEPTA X, Caracalla standing left, sacrificing out of patera in right hand and holding roll in left hand
