$16 in quarters, and I haven't even counted the rest yet. Probably $20 in total. There were only 4 foreign coins (Canada 25c, China 1 Jiao x2, Spain 20c Euro); the rest are all good American coins! This is my second best haul ever, second only to a full 50 silver Roosevelt dimes I found once.
What is wrong with Coinstar users? Don't they know how to check the reject bin? I guess that's their loss and your gain!
All of that is in the reject bin? Jeez... Always felt weird just randomly going to the coinstar and reach in to just quickly walk away, but thinking it might be all worth it one day now. Excellent score!
I always wondered that. There's no way that someone doesn't hear all the clattering in the reject bin. I can understand leaving a few pennies behind, but jeez this paid for my seafood buffet today!
The best I've ever found is a 40% Kennedy. Usually, if I'm lucky, it's a beat up cent, dime, or quarter, and maybe a foreign coin.
They probably told their 4 year old kid to dump the coins into the machine and the kid couldn't see/reach the input dump and just poured the bag into the reject slot. LOL
I've gotten a couple of hauls like that. There is usually something that gets rejected, and sometimes the stuff behind it comes down. The user is not familiar with the system and just takes the receipt. Machine malfunction. There's no room and it spits a lot of stuff out. The user is dumping too many coins, too quickly into the acceptor. And they were in a hurry and had to leave. They have tweaked the machines around here and there are less and less leave behinds.
When I was a kid a lava lamp was 1200 tickets. I saved up tickets for years and years. Now, 1200 tickets gets you a tiny stuffed animal. I should have gone there more when I still had the chance...
