Ink smears

    This is a rookie question. Why are some ink smears on notes desirable. I see auctions with large ink smears on notes, selling for good money. At what point is a smear desirable and when does it detract from the notes value. I recently picked up this S/C, cheap, with these smears on it. I am quite sure they are from the printing process and not post mint. Experts...

    I think that the more dramatic or visible the error, the less chance it has to get out so bigger error=more $$.

    i think if the smear is of a large size or involves the design of the note. something like what you listed isnt really to big or noticeable to draw you directly to it. JMHO :)
