So, a relative of mine recently passed away. His name was Bruce and we was basically an uncle. In actuality, he was my dad's cousin but they were raised like brothers and were very close friends. I was sorry to see him pass away from lung cancer at the young age of 59. He had been living with my family back home for the last couple months because he had gotten so sick and couldn't take care of himself. We thought he'd be more comfortable and happy at our house than at a nursing home. He was a good guy. Sadly, he had no children. The closest family he had was us. So, when he got sick a year or so ago and decided to make out his will...he generously left everything to my family. My parents have been going through his things now and they found one of those rubbery bank bags full of old coins and they gave it to me because I am the only one who would be interested in it. I have no pictures since they are all back home...but I do have a list and a rough quick grade I did when I went through them quickly. Bruce was not a coin collector, I think these came from his mother...she died several years ago. 1849 Large Cent, F details holed Liberty Head Nickels 1898, G 1909, VG 1911, F 1917 Buffalo Nickel, G 1889 Seated Liberty Dime, VG Barber Dimes 1906, F 1909, VG 1912, VG Walking Liberty Half Dollar 1943, VG 1943-D, VG 1961-D Franklin Half Dollar, XF details Cleaned Morgan Dollars 1878-S, AU 1882-O, AU 1883, VG 1884-O, XF 1887, XF 1889, XF 1889, XF 1900-O, G 1901-S, G 1902, VG 1921-?, Obverse VF Details - coin in collar covering reverse I was very excited to see all the Morgan's. I know none of them are rare dates on in especially good condition...but the Morgan is my favorite coin so that's a nice addition to my collection. I may try and remove the collar from the 1921 if I can. I figure it's low grade as it is and already damaged...if I can remove it without making the coin ugly I can enjoy both sides of the coin and it's only worth melt anyway. Anyway, the coins obviously mean nothing compared to the loss of a close member of the family...but I hope Bruce would be happy knowing they went to someone in the family who would really appreciate them and take good care of them.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure he would be happy the coins are going to someone who can appreciate them.

When My time comes and goes, I hope someone in my family will appreciate the coin and vinyl album collection I hope to leave behind, regardless of their monetary value.

Bittersweet situation, Richie. Every inheritance, in a way, is. FWIW, though, I think your uncle would be proud.
