Today I received an unusual quarter in change. It is lighter, brighter and it really stands out against other quarters. I am almost positive it is all silver. The date on it is 1964. Can anyone help?
Actually, it's .900 silver alloyed with the copper. That was the standard composition of U.S. coins with a face value of 10¢ or more through 1964, after which we went to the current cu-ni, cu, cu-ni ham sandwiches. Your quarter has .1809 troy oz. of silver, worth about a buck at current spot prices.
