Got this token today. I've done some basic internet queries, and have a basic understanding of the token, its origin, and how it was used. Apparently, they were given to the athletes for use for free cokes in the vending machines inside the Olympic Village in Sydney. I have not been able to find out any information as to the number that were made, what it is made of, and what kind of market there is for it. Also, I do not know who made the token, or what it is made of. I would appreciate any information to help fill in these gaps.
That's interesting! Does it have the same design on both sides? What is the size? I'm guessing there were tens of thousands made. Chris
If these were provided for all of the vending machines at the Olympic Village there must have been many thousands of them produced. There were more than 10,000 athletes in attendance. Chris
This may be very collectible if you collect Cola cola related products. http://tokencatalog.com/token_recor...2408&attribution_id=358237&td_create_uid=1643
This is a big challenge with exonumia. Mintages or how many survived are rarely known. Many tokens also suffer from low demand on the market so only a few people are ever looking to sell or buy them. Determining value can be challenging. That's a pretty cool token - the users were the athletes at the Olympics and they're pretty modern.
