Hi Guys I was just wondering how do you tell the C mint from the B mint in Indian coinage.

    Is this a 1944 L ?

The Calcutta mint don't have any mint mark.

The Bombay mint have a small dot on the reverse under the ornate near the bottom of the coin.

In case of Lahore mint there is an L mintmark in place of the dot.
The above mintmark scheme applies for George V and VI coins only.

Edward VII had a completely different scheme

As usual there was no mintmark for Calcutta.

Bombay issues have an incuse B in the crown

Also there is a second more prominent mint mark on the stem of the lotus bud.

So the first 3 of the coins are Bombay mint issues and the last one is a Calcutta mint issue.
