Just a quick ? , how do you determine if you may have a proof indian ? Other than the obvious beautiful looking coin.
Proofs aren't necessarily beautiful/great looking. That aside, considerations would be reflective/mirror surfaces, strong strike detail and squared, rather than rounded edges. If you have one in mind that you would like to know about, posting images might help.
As Mark pointed out, look for squared edges and flat rims. Proof IHCs should also have refelctive surfaces. If that reflective surface is missing in the fields you should still be able to see it in protected areas like inside the shield and inside numerals and letters.
This brings up the thought.... Are there many prooflike IHCs? Oddly enough, I don't believe I've ever seen one, but I don't look at many IHCs either.
There are only two on the NGC Census Report (PCGS doesn't use the designation). I would have guessed the number would be higher, as it seems like I have seen at least a few over the years.
"...makes me wonder if these coins were ionized to make to look proof???" Can you explain a bit more?
Business strike coins aren't made to look like Proofs through ionization. Were you trying to be funny? Or do you just not understand what might, in some fashion, give a non-Proof coin the appearance of a Proof.
