    looks like someone removed year and cent long time ago, maybe to make a gambling token, cant wait to see what others have to say on this one...

    It is damage, mechanical removal. As to why? only the person that did it actually knows.

    its at least a 1886 - 1909 variety 2 type ..I guess someone had extra time to kill

    When I see coins like this I think it may have been a practice coin for someone learning to alter coins. The obverse work looks really good. The reverse, not so good.

    When I first saw the coin I thought it was an error until I saw the reverse side, now its just a piece of copper.
