Here is an Indian Kushan tetradrachm from about AD 152-192 during the reign of Huvishka I. Got to be honest if this coin was found in a paleoanthropological dig I would swear that cavemen were riding elephants and struck coins to commemorate it, LOL Never the less a great early Indian coin, before any Colonial European intervention...
Nice coin. Kushan king Huvishka's tetradrachm are known with three sub-types. Elephant-rider, king seated on couch and king seated on cloud. On a well preserved specimen, one can read the king's name written in ancient Indian language known as 'Khrosthi'. On reverse, the standing figure is a depiction of an Indian Hindu god 'Shiva'. He is holding a trident in his hand. On left there is a faint symbol of Kushan dynasty. Thanks for sharing this ancient Indian coin with us. Regards Ballabh Garg
