Thanks for the photos. Dr. Ransom has performed a postmortem on the subject coin and has reached his analysis regarding the state of decomposition and other pertinent details. Age, 132 years, born 1888, see photo #2. Cause of overall condition, age and wear. Secondary abuse (material removal) to the date on the obverse and below the wreath on the reverse caused by a foreign device. Conclusion: An attempt to trick one into thinking the coin was a 1908 S.
