    Looks like a 1916 partial date to me.

    I'd expect a shop to try to get fifty cents if they were selling it. I don't think they'd want to buy it from you.

    I have a bunch with readable dates I would sell for 25 cents each, if I was selling.

    Those are commonly known as buffalo nickels. The US mint erred in judgement and placed the date on the highest point of the nickel. And because money worked very hard in those days, the dates wore off quite a few of them. I have a large bag of no-date buffalos that I give away to youngsters. They are cool because they hold a lot of history. Not much intrinsic value when the date is worn off though.
