hi i have this coin and was wondering how much this would be worth? can anyone please help me with details for this coin?
There are foreign coins that are very valuable, but I think the issue here is the over all condition of the coin. Honestly, its pretty worn, and as such typically won't bring much of a premium. I don't know enough about world coins to tell you if this one is rare even in its current condition.
There were 34,216,000 of those cu-ni coins produced at the Calcutta Mint that year. They are listed in the Standard Catalog of World Coins as KM#513, and valued in the 2005 32d Ed. for 25¢ in Fine grade, to $4 Uncirculated. Based on the pictures I would grade yours as only a Good, with Fine details on the reverse - about 15¢ net retail value. BTW young person you are quite wrong in saying: True, there are tens of thousands worth a few dollars or less, but there are thousands worth higher amounts, and hundreds worth very big bucks. For example, if you happen to have a Japanese ¥5 from any of the years 1876-80 laying around, I'd be more than happy to buy you a complete set of AU Morgans to trade for it.
