2026 will the US 250th anniversary of Independence. Who thinks the Mint will have circulating commems like they did in 1976?
Low relief, lousy and uninspired designs coupled with a miserable ordering process and poor customer service - what more could you expect ten years?
I think that circulating commemoratives will happen in 2026. After the weak details of the 2016 gold Merc, I'm dreading 2036 when they make the 1/20 oz gold Seated half dime... It'll be a disaster details-wise most likely.
Who does, really? On the other hand, at my current age, ten years seems to pass a lot more quickly than it used to. 2026 will be here before I know it.
To be honest, I'd rather see them produce a nice medal. This 1876 Centennial medal is 76mm in diameter and 9mm thick from rim to rim. Chris
Something like that - the artistry, character, and appeal - I could live with... if still alive that is, but would they is the question?
What I want to know is will the U.S. Mint continue to include the Lincoln cent in proof sets after 2022/23 like they do with Kennedy half dollars that are rarely seen in circulation any more, or the Native American $1 coin that is also rarely sees the light of day? Will the Mint add a proof Morgan silver dollar to the annual silver proof set?
