I have been buying coins from the US Mint for years and this is the first problem I have had. The Mint was fine but the problem is with the USPS. I ordered the Marine Coin and Stamp Set on 7/20 and it was shipped 8/5. I used the online tracking from the mint and I see that the package arrived on 8/6 at the Bulk Mail Center and it is still there. I have called the post office 3 times and never get an answer when the delivery will take place or if the package is still there. I have been told there are millions of packages there. The phone call to the mint was useless as they won't do anything until 30 days after they ship and then will only give me a refund. I don't want a refund I want the set. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what to do it would be appreciated.
be patient, the USPS is in the business of delivering mail and the usually do a great job of it (even if it is slow sometimes).
That is unless it is pocketed by one of their employees, lost on the floor which never gets cleaned, rerouted to tim-buck-too where the whole thing starts over again. The old Postal System is only privatized, not any better. Costs more but no more timely. That is why there is all these postal delivery companies making a fortune carrying the mail and pouches of goodies. And just to think, there are people on this forum who think the Mint is poorly run!
I have found the tracking info on my Mint shipments to be questionable, at best. There have been times when I have held the item in my hands and the shipping info states that it is somewhere in transit. And the opposite is also true: the site shows delivered but it is two or three days before I actually have the item. As long as they say they still have it, you will have to content yourself with looking at the pictures on the website. It is true that they have thousands of packages. My question (when I was in your position) was why is mine the one that they are holding ransome.
