Sallent—Don’t punish yourself because you think you were not with your Dad when he passed. You were with him in his heart. He certainly treasured your visit and replayed it in his memory in his final moments. Yes, you were there!

Here’s a complex father and son team spanning the spectrum of achievements. They inspired many great public works and architecture and had they not taken a path that had caused so much pain and suffering for their people they would be considered great rulers.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My Dad is 79 and currently battling lung cancer. We don't know how much time is left, so we try to cherish every moment as much as we can.

My dad is long gone, but my brother will be 85 this year, and I am apprehensive for him.

I'm so sorry for you loss, Salent. You both are too young to be parting though I'm sure it's very hard at any age. I still have my father who's 80 and got me started in ancients though his eyes are too bad to enjoy his coins all that much anymore.

He gave me this coin for Christmas maybe 12-14 years ago and specifically because it was a father son portrait. Heraclius and his son.

It's always hardest when unexpected, and at 56 in good health who would expect that? You have my sympathy. My dad passed at age 62, but had lots of health issues. Hang on to the legacy he left you and it will give you some hope for tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that man. Praying for you and your family. Sounds like he was a great Dad. What more could a son ask for in this or any age? :)
