In Honor Of My 30,000 Post

In honor of reaching 30,000 posts I'm posting 2 coins. Both are Bust Half Dollars, 1820/19. They are both different so I'll explain when we get to the photos. These are a fairly recent purchase as I bought them a couple of months ago.

Both coins have very minor circulation damage, well within acceptable limits. Both are over dated and both are clean, except for minor circulation wear.

This is an 1820/19 and even in this photo you can see the over date. This is the Curl Base 2 variety. Notice the bottom of the 2 is curled. The 1 shows in the 2 quite clearly and the 9 can easily be seen in the 0. There are 3 photos for this coin.

This is also a 1820/19 but this is the Square 2 variety. The base of the 2 is straight and not curled like the one above. The 1 shows under the 2 whereas the 9 is barely visible under the 0. Again, there are 3 photos.

I was quite surprised to locate these 2 coins and pleased to be able to afford them. They were quite affordable.

My sentiments exactly. I wouldn't be the wiser on the second one unless I boned up on this series.

Yes it is very obvious. The curl base 2 coins are like that. I've seen several and they all looked the same. It's hidden on the square 2 when compared to the curl.

 

I don’t know where you come about these beautiful coin but.. WOW.. o and WOW on you 30 k post. I’m just a baby here at 967....

edited: you alway come about an over date thar is amazing...

 

It's surprising how many over dates there are, if you look in the early 1800's. I think the Mint kept better records and they were more concerned about the releases at the end of the year then they do today. Just look at you Red Book and you'll see what I mean.

I will have too.. I not even sure my lcs is even open... been working 12 hr day and 6 days a week it’s kinda hard to make it by there...but I have been fleabaying!!

I don't buy anything on the bay.

 

Me either as a rule. Not coins at least as I don’t have time to sift through all the dreck mostly tools and shop supplies
