Box contained some WWII postcards, photo slides of random landmarks, a metal Chesterfield Kings Cigarette box and some fishing flies.... along with these. Help Identifying and possible values would be greatly appreciated.
Nice finds. Quite sure the third coin posted is a 4 Falus from Morocco. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1102.html
The second coin is a drachm of Apollonia, struck during the Roman Republic protectorate of Illyria (modern Albania), 1st to 2nd centuries BC. The magistrates' names are on the coin (Theodotos and Arxenos), so with the proper reference the date could be narrowed down, but I'm traveling and on my phone at the moment, so I can't do it right now.
So, I believe your drachm falls into Class A6Lc2a or A7Lc2b - classifications by a numismatist by the name of Petranyi. See this page for more information. In fact, that website will tell you more about these coins than you'll ever want to know. His chronology is tentative, but based on good logic, which he explains in the earlier pages. It would put your coin somewhere between 59 and 48 BC.
The first coin is a 1 Soldo of the Republic of Ragusa (Croatia) struck between 1678 and 1797. I can't make out the last number of your date - 168? Here is the Numista page on those types.
Not an expert on these, but the last number looks a lot like a 9…kudos to you, John, for your expertise…Spark
Thanks to all so far!!! I'm going to water-pick them to see if I can get some of the crud off... will post better pics if it works out. I'm trying to figure out total worth so I can take the Thrift Store owner a little bonus... keeping things honest.
