I hate asking this because I have seen plenty of threads here asking similiar questions. However, this one has me a bit stumped. I search a lot of halves and haven't seen one quite like this before.
It doesn't seem to be enviromental damage since there is still luster on the coin. I am wondering if it is an improperly annealed half or if it is just dark toning. The pictures make it look a little lighter than what it is so I took another picture with it next to a normal half.
    Thanks for looking!

Could of happen from the annealing process .
The copper atoms migrated to the surface and oxidized on both sides of the coin .

    - Hard to say because the best way to say if any coin is Improperly Annealed is if it came fresh out of a new Mint roll or Mint sealed bag.
