    Xinjiang is the western, muslim area of China. The native people there are the Uighurs, an ancient people probably related to the Turks. During the Ching dynasty, the area produced "red cash", so called due to the color of the metal used to cast them.

    Sorry, just thought I would add some color commentary.

    I am pleased to know more about China's most western province. Only 4.3% of the land is fit for human habitation! Gotta love Wikipedia.
