A guy who says its environmental damage is wrong and I don't ever want him posting on my post ever again. First picture see the torch held by the hsnd!

Second pic see the W with the black p above the P mint mark? Um what could that. Mean uh yeah west point! So ok all the environmental damage he says is actually gold!

Last but not least see the eye on the eagles neck? Oh and the eagle is screaming!

Whoever said it was environmental damage is right. You need to accept that

First of all, what torch? There is no torch on a Washington quarter. Are you referring to the fasces? What is "hsnd"?

    It is a damaged quarter.

What's with all the hair in that last picture?

    No.

I see some random marks there.

If you think that is a "W" mintmark for West Point, think again.

There was no such thing as a West Point "W" mintmark prior to 1995, and that is a 1990 quarter.

    Huh?!?

Yeah, I hate it when people tell me the truth and I'm not ready to accept it. It sucks.

In all seriousness though, i really did have to dissect his thinking to figure out what he is talking about. Maybe what he is saying, key word maybe, maybe he thinks that this coin was struck on another coin that was already struck from West Point, with this mysterious rare design element with a torch in hand(for that year at least)...? but I really don't see anything close to indicate that. All I see is damage. Maybe it's the picture quality, highly, highly, highly doubt that is the case.

There would be no coin "already struck from West Point" with a "W" mintmark in 1990. That is impossible, without time travel. The first US coin to bear the "W" mintmark was the 1996-W dime. (1995-W silver Eagle)

[*edit - I stand corrected by @cpm9ball - forgot about ASEs because I've never collected them. Doesn't alter my original point- a 1990-W coin is impossible.]

Who knows! With all the crazy abbreviations people use these days, maybe it is an abbreviation for "husband".

I don't think we need all the images that have been posted in this thread. The OP could take them as being insulting. That's not what we do here.

As a matter of fact, I did.

Doesn't change the fact that there would be no such thing as a 1990-W quarter, however.
