when: it was a cold and lonely day. the cats werent purring and the dogs werent barking. The trees were drooped and the grass was flat, the birds werent singing and the wind was gone. It was lonely, the date- March 30, 2005 "the sadest day of the month" Why- well the coins didnt jingle like they used too. the basketball didnt bounce like it used to, the BB gun didnt make birds feathers shoot everywhere like it used too (just kidding) well it was a later time in the day and there was no fight to pick with a fellow brother and the pets were asleep. anyways it was march 30th and i searched for coins on comcast and this came up so i joined and have posted like crazy
I joined March 25, 2005. I have long had a passion for coins but only recently have started actively collecting coins again. I was searching the net one night for coin forums and came across this one. I was impressed enough that I decided to join. I' m pretty reserved about joining internet forums but this one seemed worth it.
I stumbled accross this Forum in April 2005 while looking for info on an error coin. I liked what I saw and have been here since.
I joined in February of 2005. I Googled "coin forum" and this site was one of the first ones to come up. I looked around at the site for a while and joined that same day. I love this site!!
Canadian Nickel 5c. Is the 1947 Canadian 5c. the one with the Maple Leaf by the date,or is it the one without the Maple Leaf? Aidan.
Well, I joined this forum on Feb 24, 2005. At the time I was looking for identification info on a coin I had, so I posted a question and the rest is history!
Well,I joined up after 'accidentally' stumbling upon this website in December 2004,so I thought that I'd better sign up,& here I am. Aidan.
Well I joined April 15, 2005. Not very long ago...I've been passively collecting random coins for a while now, but recently my interest was sparked in my Ancient Roman history class when the prof. put up some slides of Roman coins...I searched ebay for them and found I could actually afford some of them, then decided to look for other coins there. Finally I wanted to know how much a particular coin was worth and I googl'd it and found this forum. Posted and got a pleasant response, so I figured I'd hang out here when I have time. This forum has really made me excited, now everytime I get change back from Jack in the Box and Wendy's I'm searching through them looking for good finds
joined feb2005, It was snowing out,had nothing to do. so I searched for the values of some silver coins I had and stummbled on this site, which is the best coin site going.
I am brand spankin' new This is the very first post to this forum. I had joined a week or two ago and am finally getting around to posting something, even if it is just a reply. I work in a retail environment and am constantly sifting through the change at work. I have the luxury of buying all the collectible stuff at face value, though it isn't typically anything exciting. I have pulled Indian head pennies, buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, all different types of silver coinage as well as wheats, and old jefferson nickels. On occasion I pull an interesting foreign coin out, the most memorable of which is a 5 mark German coin with a swastika on it. The most interesting coins I have pulled in recent years is a 1999 - D Jefferson Nickel which I sent into PCGS and got graded as a 100% struck through OBV MS-64 and the other day I pulled a $20 bill with the color shifting ink that had smeared. I am not the most knowledgable in regards to paper currency, so I am not too sure if the $20 is worth anything. I have had dealers tell me that the error nickel is worthless and others had a difficult time containing thier excitement. I have one dealer that lives in the Detroit area that I am considering letting him take the coin to one of the bigger shows that he frequents, and see what he can get for it.
I joined in March because I had questions on some coins, and realized I might even be able to help some others while I was learning. It has been a great educational experience. - James
I stumbled across the place trying to find out what an FAO coin was. I then read about the Reagan dime and eyed the world coin forum. I didn't join up until I had some coins that I needed to be identified. I believe they were from Algeria and, coincidently, FAO issue.
Heads Up Folks I hate to say this - but I got a hunch that the person who started this contest may not be returning to end it - or award a prize.
Kinda of like Jimmy-Bones, I had a capped die strike error and didn't know what it was....so I did some googling and here I am in 2005. Great site.... --Gusmyster
In a nutshell - yes. He hasn't posted since that first day when he stated that his reason for posting was so he could advertise on Coin Talk - sell coins. He even stated that his only reason for making the contest post was to increase his post count - trying to get to 10. ( Members have to have 10 or more posts to be able to post in the Open or Auction forums here ) But who knows - perhaps he'll come back - rather doubt it though.
