Does anyone have any hints on how to keep dust off the scanner glass plate. No matter what I do some dust is ALWAYS present. Is there an antistatic cleaner that won't create a haze. I've try the microfiber cloth immediately before placing a coin down. Tried fanning the glass surface before and during the scans-- no help. HELP! It takes 3 to 4 scans in oder to get an acceptable one.

Most likely static electricity is the problem.
Or some other electrical potential build-up.
That would create a dust magnet.
IF that's the problem, grounding would be the solution (I think).
We need someone familiar with grounding that sort of thing (that's not me).

Photo stores used to sell a deionizing brush. I had one that worked on film, used it for years until it punked out.

I didn't replace it when I found out the reason it worked relied on plutonium.
and it had out lived it's half life.

Perhaps your local photo store has a new product available.

Wash the microfiber cloth and use it before it dries all the way.
This should knock out some of the static.

I use a Zerostat and sometimes an anti-static spray to clean the glass.:secret:

I've had that problem a few times. I just use one of those dryer sheets (Fabric sheets for the dryer, what ever they're called :D). I rub it over the glass of the scaner, then give it one wipe with a cotton cloth, seems to work pretty good.

Ice I'll take a close look for inside dust. Don't really think that's my problem. Dust shows up in different spots everytime I rotate or change the items being scanned.

Odd that no one is saying just where is the dust coming from. I suspect you live in a house or apartment as most do. Doors and windows open most of the time for numerous reasons. If you have kids, those doors are opening and closing all the time. Many like the fresh air so leave windows open a lot. As you walk through the place your cloths, the rugs, your funiture emits dust into the air. With the proper lighting equipment you can see the stuff.
My suggestion is to close off your computer place if possible, purchase a good room air cleaner and use it almost all the time in that area. Some decent ones are electronic and have washable filtration systems.
I presently have several of them around the house. Also, and electronic air cleaner connected to my furnace. Allergies and other medical conditions make those sort of a necessity and therefore no dust on my computer equipment at all.
