I would buy this but I'm broke! http://www.ecrater.com/p/7382899/1948-d-franklin-half-dollar-pcgs-au58?keywords=franklin+dollar# 1948 Franklin Half, for $16 shipped. Melt as of now is $15.50. Plus it's already been graded!
I think so. I mean it costs like $10 at least to have a coin slabbed by pcgs. The melt of the coin is $15.50, so its $25 worth for $16 shipped. Your pay 50 cents more for the grade and the holder than you would melt.
Just because it cost $10 to grade doesn't mean the coin increases in value because you put that money into it. Just like repairing a car. That coin in that condition is worth melt in the slab or outside the slab. Whoever sent that in to get slabbed in the first place isn't the most intelligent human out there. If it were to grade MS then there was a few bucks to be made. JMHO
