Not that I'm special or anything. I hope you are all enjoying your coins. After a year of being away from the hobby, I finally got hooked back into the swing of things and made my first purchase in a while. Before my hiatus, I decided to focus on building a U.S. type set. It's going to be one heck of a journey to complete. My goal is to get the highest grade of each type I can afford. It is going to require a lot of patience and plenty of years. I am sure there may be some types that will be impossible for somebody such as myself to acquire. My goal is to acquire proofs if possible, otherwise I will resort to business strike coins and so forth. My first purchase this year is a 1878 $2.50 piece, MS-63. It may not be a proof or a real high MS coin, but I look forward to seeing the luster and contrast of this coin in-hand. Is there anything I should know about the market? It looks like the U.S. mint is still producing the same hoopla per usual. Presidents on every coin, 200 year rotating quarter design program, and the U.S. mint website still looks like something from the late 90s to early 00s. I grade their website AP-50 (About Professional). The only thing I am kicking myself for missing was the ASE anniversary set. Are the folks over at HSN / Coin Collector still selling their surplus of ultra rare business strike state quarters with red oak presentation cases? :hail:
Are you sure you've been away? It sounds like you're pretty much up to date on everything. Welcome back!
