so I am at it again with trying to identify an authentic doubled die.. So I was hoping that someone could tell me if this might be a 1977 doubled die penny? I realize my phone is not the best way to take pictures but I'm hoping that these might be good enough to at least zoom in on maybe the top right corner of the seven in 1977 and the bottom left side of the i in In God We Trust. There are actually quite a few more places on many of the letters on the obverse side however it's hard to capture on this phone . I would appreciate anybody's advice! Thank you ahead of time!
Hi Blondie (I hope you don't mind), I see what you're talking about but it may be nothing at all. I'm going to give you a link to probably the best reference source concerning doubling available on the internet. It's called Wexler's. Please study it carefully. Choose the topic you're interested in from the list on the left. One of the better choices for this subject might be "Worthless Doubling". This is a very good source of information. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties I want to thank you for your post and your very helpful description of your concerns. And of course I want to say Welcome to Coin Talk !! or, in your case, Welcome Back !!
I was not able to find a DDO listed for a 1977 LMC. http://doubleddie.com/823986.html http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO listing.htm.
