My grandma was over for dinner and said she had found some old pennies in her dresser that she has been saveing for years so she handed me over a handfull of IHC!!!!!!! i really dont know much about these so ill give you the dates 1901 1900 1862 ( this penny i would say is a vf 45) 1860 x 2 1886 1887 1889 1888 1897 1907 most of these coins are in great condition but i really dont know how to grade IHC so as soon as i find my digital cam i will post pics ( also do i have any key or semi key dates ? ) thanks for looking bob
hya: Or a VF-20. We'll have to wait for some pictures. Anyway, nice of Grandma to bestow these on you. The '69 is a rare enough coin especially if it turns out to be a 1869 over 9. The rest if they should turn out to be in really well preserved condition will be a nice addition to your collection, or an upgrade as the case may be. Thank Grandma and if you have any other relatives have old change socked away....
well i dont have all of them but i got some pics of my favs of the group ( the pics are not great and do not show the detail and color of the coin)
That's pretty cool. :thumb: Go here for (high end) retail prices for your new coins. http://www.pcgs.com/prices/frame.chtml?type=date&filename=flying_eagle_indian_cent
do you think the 67 or in that matter any of the coins i listed above in fine pluse condition are worth geting graded?
Nice grandma. That is an 1886 type 2 indian - I think this is a semi-key. I would say G or G details(1867 looks corroded)- since I do not see liberty in any of the coins.
For the coins shown - I would say no, unless you just wanted them slabbed. Now the 1862 if it is really XF then I would say yes it might be worth it.
No problem - In 1886 type I indians had the feather point between the I and C. Type II 1886 had the last feather point between the C and the A. According to Rick Snows book the mintage of type II was about 3.65 million of the total 17.6 million minted. That 1888 looks nice - that one would be VF/XF (in my opinion) - the toning is interesting. I can not tell if that is a spec or a ding below the first 8. Still - nice of grandma to pass the coins on to you.
Oops - Here is a link to grading. I think there use to be a PDF file I down loaded. Not sure if it is still there or not but it should help.
