Should these boxes not be opened before sending to NGC? Such as with the 3 piece set of 2006 ASE!

Why ? The only reason I ever heard of for sending boxes unopened was to get First Strike Designation. NGC doesn't do that anymore. So I see no reason it would matter.

Actually you did have to send the 2006 20th Anniversary sets to NGC/PCGS in unopened boxes to get the 20th Anniversary label on the coins. This was due to the 2006 W Proof and 2006 W Uncirculated silver dollars were available earlier. You could send the 2006 reverse silver proof opened because it was only available in the anniversary set.

I was wondering if NGC/PCGS were going to offer something similar with these Lincoln coin and chronicle sets but they are not. So no special label that will say Lincoln coin and chronicle sets if you send them in.

The 1 ounce Lincolaleased as well as the proof set of the 4 new designs, I know NGC comes up with some tough hurdles, I guess better safe than sorry, should you try to grade with NGC

I personally see no reason to send these coins to NGC or PCGS. You will not get any special label that they came from the coin and chronicle set even if you send them in the unopened package. I also think the slip cover and package the mint has for this set is beautiful and I won't break that up.

I already have a certified PF70 and MS70 Lincoln dollar from earlier this year.

I to, have purchased the proof and uncirculated silver coins, haven't had them graded, just wanted to know how to expect the two TPG's to react after everyone had opened the mint boxes upon arrival and the TPG's say well for us to determine they were part of the Coin and Chronical issue, send them in un opened, cause I would imagine the coins will be in indivual holders in the LN6 set and will be removeable, like the 2001 Buffalo coin and chronicle set.

I definitely have some coins that I want graded but the LN6 is not part of that group. From what I see happening on ebay it should be fairly easy to double and even triple your money for certain. That said, I don't think I will sell mine. At least not right away b/c sets like this go up, and up and maybe up some more. :D

Besides 8 months ago when that Lincoln dollar was out I didn't get in on that so this buy is my first special minimum issue buy. :thumb: It has that finders keepers aura to it so it has a special place in my collection. That automatically means the price is gonna be high, in my book. :D

Never sold any of my coins, and remember one man's trash is another man's treasure!!! I rarely submit for grading and buy some coins graded, ugh, it's a collection, of what I'm not sure sometimes.ha ha

I can't see sending this set in for grading. You have a set which in it's original holder is ebaying at $200+. Send it in for slabbing and you have a slabbed Lincoln worth about $60 and a set of proof Lincolns worth about $8 So $200 intact or $68 broken up and slabbed.

As a collector I don't understand slabbling this set , as it goes in the antique & collecting world , in original mint condition is what I want , not broke up , whats the point? If you want slabs send in the Lincoln proof dollar and the 4 Lincoln cents which came in proof condition a while back , definitly agree with Conder101 ; )
