I am a monkeyes uncle and rich too (because I must have a buzillion of these) http://cgi.ebay.com/1958-D-LINCOLN-...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 :goofer:
yea, I've seen better keys at Lowe's. It is to bad that people are trying to ruin the hobby like this just to earn a dollar. But then again how much is he really making after having it slabbed anyways.
Me too. I must be rich!!! Maybe I can qiut work and retire in style. Nah, what was I thinking, I like working way to much!
At least we have the satisfaction of knowing that the subtitle cost him. That's one of the better scams eBay has going. The subtitle can't be searched on, but it costs.
actually it is a semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-key date
lets just hope he didn't post the auction during one of those times when it was free subheader. or maybe it is some kind of error coin- the obverse is where the reverse should be and vise versa. ;p On a serious note, what can be done about these scams?
Just education. We need to teach people the truth about coins so they can recognize the scams. That's the best anyone can do.
Actually, it may well be a semi-key - if you are trying to put together a set of 67's. Any grade below that is one of the most common wheats out there.
He says semi key date - not condition. I think he does this with all his auctions. Also it is graded 65
It looks like...this cleaned AU details 1943-S "semi-key" is actually in the title not the sub title and he wants $10 for it!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/1943-S-SEMI-KEY...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
You can absolutely have conditional keys/semi-keys. If you are putting together a circulated set of Lincolns, the 26-S is cheap. If you are putting together an uncirculated set, the 26-S is probably a semi-key. If you are putting together a red uncirculated set, the 26-S is the key.
It's worth $1.50 anyday of the week. Not a key, not a semi-key, not nothing but an average BU wheat cent - I have bought and sold rolls of them at $6 each - wholesale it's .40 cents, retail about $1.50. He is stretching the truth or, "is it even possible to advertise aggressively without tell a lie"?
This is absolutely true...that red 1926-S can be a real nightmare. But, a MS65RD 1958-D and certainly a cleaned AU50 details 1943-S are far from being semi-key by condition or date.
