Bill Cobb, the CEO of Ebay, made some comments recently on their website. I sure wish he didn't have his fingers crossed while talking. [IMG]

I have no trouble believing it. This announcement is not about protecting buyers, it's about protecting Ebay's Final Value fees. You can rest assured they'll make it happen.

Meanwhile, some of their highest-volume coin sellers are con artists and thieves, and they're thriving.

True true, ebay doesnt care if you get conned out of your money as long as ebay gets the fees out of what you pay to con artists.

Don't be too overly cynical about eBay and "others". Change takes a while sometimes. Even after two weeks, you're not going to see much done. But if people start actually being proactive about things, change will come about. You may even have noticed some of the recent but small changes to listings from certain eBay sellers in the past few weeks as well. Sometimes it just takes some time and alot of prodding to get change done.

ebay is just looking out for number one on the guise af looking out for the consumer, it plays real nice for most suckers, but then we're not suckers are we.

You are right...eBay is more concerned with "fee avoidance" than the welfare of the buyer. With that said...I have NO issue in what a seller charges for S&H.

I take S&H fees into consideration BEFORE I bid (if I bid). If a seller charges $10 to ship a coin over another seller that charges $1, well...I know I have that I will have to add $9 to the first coin's bid for the final cost.

Personally, when and if I sell some of my duplicate slabs, or slabs that have been upgraded to a better grade, I charge $5 for S&H. That includes a padded/bubbled envelope, delivery confirmation (a must if you sell), 1st class postage, and the cost of going to the Post Office. I state HOW I ship my coin(s) in the description. If a buyer has an issue of paying $5 for something that costs just over $2.50 in materials and postage, then DON'T BID!
