Identifying a Proof - 1901 British Penny

    Something about this coin just felt different too me -. the surfaces so hard and glossy and the rims so sharp - I thought I should ask about it. How do you identify a proof of this variety?

    I notice there are scratches going in the same direction on both the obverse and reverse that usually indicates a polished coin.

    Hi thank you :) You are probably correct. Some of the "scratches" you are seeing could be marks from my fingers though... or not..lol I smoothed it with a cloth and took a couple more pics from an angle. IMG_9824.jpg IMG_9823.jpg
