I have a 1926 buffalo nickel wich is encased in what looks like lead. The casing is a rectangle with a small hole in the upper righ corner. The indian head is showing, the buffalo is covered. The top of the unit has 3 tabs marked R, W and R. The back has 3 slots or lines running top to bottom. Anyone know what this is exactly.:(

Howdy haxx - Welcome to the Forum !!

Sounds like an ordinary encased coin to me. They are rather common, amusement parks and such have machines where you put a cent in the machine, along woth your money to pay for it, and the machine places the coin in an outter case - an encased coin. Some machines work with nickels too.
