Identification of Coin with Indic Script

Discussion in 'World Coins' started by Jake in Georgia, Jun 1, 2008.

  1. I got this coin (or medal?) a few years ago from a box of coins from my deceased grandfather whom I never met. It's always looked interesting to me, but I have no clue what it is or how much it is worth.

Also, I've only taken coin pictures a couple of times before and they usually don't come out too well. I think these are okay, but let me know if you need better ones.

It is an Islamic token, which I know nothing about. It looks like the kabbah, though. It is dated 1338 AH or AD 1919. It may have been a souvenir that a pilgrim to Mecca picked up on the Hajj.

I would go along with that attribution. :thumb:

That relief really jumps out of that token. It certainly does look like a candidate for the Kabba stone.
