I am hoping that someone may know more about this small square AE10. I got it as part of a group lot a while ago and have just gotten around to trying to catalogue it. The seller called it Gandharan, but with no further ID, and I can't seem to find a match in Mitchiner (my usual go-to for unknown Indian/Central Asian stuff). Obverse is a head facing right, reverse seems to be based on the Sasanian reverse of an altar with two attendants. Any help is appreciated.
I believe this is a Gandharan bronze of the Hunnic persuasion, to be found in Vondrovec. When I’m home again I can try to find it for you. By the way, in excellent condition.
There are some similar specimen on Zach Beasly's website here: https://www.beastcoins.com/Kashmir-Smast/Kashmir-Smast.htm Previously this category of coins was attributed as "Kashmir-Smast" types. The "Gandharan hunnic bronze" name seems to be favoured in literature now.
