So I posted this coin in my cleaning thread, and I did some more looking and I think I know who had this coin minted. I think it's Antoninus Pius, I can read ONINVS AVG, the tail end of the legend. It helps that the portrait looks similar. What do you think? I can't find any matching reverses. The coin is slightly larger than a denarius. 20230509_160235.jpg 20230509_154652.jpg

The end of the obverse legend appears to be PP COS III, and the beginning ANTONINVS AVG. Reverse could be PAX or Virtus

    Likely a limes denarius?

    Right on the money!

Never heard of those before. That's fascinating! This is for sure an interesting find.

An AE denarius and limes denarius is the same thing.

Yeah when I was writing that I was thinking of late denarii, not second-century. It's more the name I hadn't heard of. I'm pretty excited, I didn't know base-metal denarii had existed so early.
