I need some help identifying these two coins I just picked up. The first I think is Japanese. The second looks Islamic (Turkish?) and I think it's silver, but that's all I can guess.
Your pictures of the Japanese coin are both upside down. Tip #1: On any Japanese coin with a chrysanthemum in the design, the chrysanthemum will be on the top. Tip #2: The characters at the bottom of the right-hand picture are the name of the country, and will also always be at the top. The actual date on the coin is Showa 10, which is the Japanese designation for the western year 1935. The coin is .720 silver/.280 copper, weighs 4.95g and has a diameter of 23.5mm. In it's apparent condition, based on your picture, it's basically worth melt.
Thanks to both of you for the help. I thought the Japanese coin was silver which is why I bought it. For 25 cents that's pretty good.
